Self-certification rules have changed. You no longer need to give your employers a self-certificate to cover your first seven days of sickness. The government has increased this to 28 days.
If your employers request a medical certificate to confirm your illness before the new 28 day deadline, this will have to be treated as a private medical certificate for which there will be a fee. We can provide patients with a receipt that they may be able to use to claim this fee back from their employers, however this will depend on the company they work for.
